Ilkay Holt

I work at the British Library as a Scholarly Communication Lead. My job is to contribute to the on-going development of, and lead on the implementation of a scholarly communications strategy in the library including translating the strategy into action plans and practices and engaging with the global scholarly communication community on behalf of the library. I also carried out a community engagement role at the Library, in the Advancing Hyku, a repository technology development project, funded by Arcadia from August 2020 to February 2022.

I am a librarian by training, have an MA in library science and an MBA. I worked in the Koc University and Ozyegin University Libraries in Turkey, and served as a library director for over eight years. I also worked in the Turkish National University Libraries Consortium (ANKOS) from 2006 to 2016 by serving in the open access group and licensing group as well as the steering committee. From 2016 to October 2021, I worked at the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations as a Consultant.

I am a founding member of Creative Commons Turkey and have been active in the CC Global Network since 2012. Currently, I continue serving voluntarily at CC Turkey Chapter as a representative to the Global Network Council. I have been volunteering for E-LIS: Eprints in Library and Information Science as an editor for Turkey since 2005. I am a Steering Committee Member at Open Repositories from August 2021 for a 3-year period.
